The light has really changed the past several weeks. Usually in late August I can feel how the light's changed, the Earth has tilted and the sun's a little farther away from us, but I've really noticed it the past few weeks when I've been outside painting for hours. Yesterday was a glorious fall day here in southeast Michigan, so I made myself go out in the country for a few hours and paint the Braun brothers' field on the south side of Saline.
I thought I'd post a few in-progress images of the painting I did yesterday. It came faster than other paintings - don't know if it was the beautiful day, my growing familiarity with the field or being more comfortable with going deeper with the color sooner.
