One of the things I need to allow myself more time for is to make mistakes - experiment a little. Don't get me wrong, I love to let an idea run wild, but with deadlines always looming, it gets a bit too easy to just finish up work and keep my head down.
I got together with another artist friend last week and we were batting around ideas for a show we're doing together. It'll be our first with one another. I love her work! She's a clay artist: http://mo-wilson.com/ . So, she was talking about an idea she wanted to try for an upcoming show she has at Pewabic Pottery http://www.pewabic.org/ in Detroit and she wasn't sure if she'd have time to pull it off. I said, 'Hey, I'm willing to come over to your studio and assist you. You can just point and I'll make whatever it is happen.' It seemed like an adult play date! What fun! We can teach each other things and learn about one another's art/process while we're at it. Probably come up with a great idea for our show, too!
